Oaks and Sky was painted in October 2005, and was inspired by the view east from The Dalles in summertime. The painting is another of Tuck’s revisionings of the horizon — “that shifting line between sky and earth which is always so full of drama” for her. A few months after painting Oaks and Sky, she was still drawn to that dramatic “shifting line” in the distance, and began work on her series of Horizons paintings.

Oaks and Sky is now in the collection of Karen Coats, shown holding the framed painting directly below.
