OIL PAINTINGS:

project: Looking East from The Dalles

Oil painting by Tuck Contreras (e-copyright 2009)

Looking East from The Dalles. Oil painting on canvas, 48 x 21 in.

Looking East from The Dalles was painted in August 2005, and records the view east from The Dalles in summertime.

Tuck describes her inspiration as follows: “At this time of year, you see hundreds of miles of wheat fields; it’s as if the hills of wheat go on forever. And the play of colors on the hills is extraordinary: rich golds, oranges, and yellows juxtaposed with undisturbed earth tones in those places too steep for a tractor. ¶ As always, I have tried to capture the hidden drama in these endless interlocking hills, and to paint the landscape as I see it: dynamic, changing, and beautiful.”
